Terms & Conditions
Plain English summary: By using this site or attending any of our events, you agree to these terms. They cover website use, event bookings, our cancellation policy, dog attendance rules, and The Truffle Forager's Code — our code of honour around protecting locations, the land, and our training system. Our content is educational — always use your own judgement in the field. Please don't reproduce our content without permission. We're not liable for losses beyond what the law requires.
1. Who We Are
This website (truffleforager.com) is owned and operated by Truffle Forager Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 14267322) (the "Company", "we", "us", "our").
These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of this website and to attendance at all events run by Truffle Forager Limited — including but not limited to the UK Truffle Festival, the UK Truffle Dog Championships, truffle dog training days, foraging experiences, retreats, and educational workshops. By accessing this website, purchasing tickets, or attending any of our events, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Use of This Website
You may use this website for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these terms. You agree not to:
- Use the site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful.
- Copy, reproduce, distribute, or republish any content without our prior written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site or its servers.
- Use automated tools (scrapers, bots, crawlers) to extract content from the site in bulk.
- Use the site to transmit spam or unsolicited communications.
3. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including but not limited to text, images, videos, graphics, logos, training frameworks (including the BSH Truffle Dog Training System), and course materials — is owned by or licensed to Truffle Forager Limited and is protected by UK copyright law.
The BSH Truffle Dog Training System (Build, Search, Hunt) is proprietary intellectual property of Truffle Forager Limited. You may not reproduce, adapt, or distribute any element of this system without explicit written consent.
You may share links to our content and quote brief extracts for commentary or educational purposes, provided you credit Truffle Forager and link back to the source.
4. Educational Content Disclaimer
The truffle hunting and dog training information provided on this site is for educational and informational purposes only. While we take care to ensure accuracy, we make no warranties that the information is complete, current, or suitable for your specific situation.
Truffle hunting involves working outdoors and with animals. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of your dog. Always exercise your own judgement and consult a qualified veterinarian or professional trainer where appropriate.
Results from truffle dog training vary depending on the dog, handler, environment, and many other factors. We make no guarantees of specific outcomes.
5. Products, Tickets & Pricing
All prices are displayed in British Pounds (GBP) and are inclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated. We reserve the right to change prices at any time, but changes will not affect existing confirmed bookings or purchases.
Event tickets are subject to availability and may be limited in quantity. Ticket sales typically close 48 hours before the event or when sold out. Entry to any event is only permitted with a valid ticket or booking confirmation.
For some events, tickets are sold through an authorised third-party ticketing provider. By purchasing through that platform, you also agree to their terms and conditions.
For online courses, memberships, or consulting services, any additional or product-specific terms will be made clear at the point of purchase.
6. Event Booking & Cancellation Policy
Cancellations by you
Once purchased, tickets are generally non-refundable. As a gesture of goodwill, we're happy to offer a refund within 14 days of purchase, provided the event is more than 30 days away at the time of your request. If you purchase your ticket within 30 days of the event, we're unable to offer a refund. Booking fees are non-refundable in all cases.
To request a refund, please use our contact page with your name and order reference.
If you can no longer attend
We understand that life gets in the way. For all Truffle Forager events except the UK Truffle Festival (which is covered separately below), we offer the following flexibility outside of the standard refund window:
- More than 30 days before the event — if you're outside the refund window but give us more than 30 days' notice, you're entitled to transfer your ticket to a future event of the same value or less, subject to availability. Any difference in price is non-refundable.
- Within 30 days of the event — refunds are not available, and ticket transfers to future events are at the sole discretion of Truffle Forager. We'll always try to find a fair solution where we reasonably can, but please don't assume a transfer will be possible at short notice.
Ticket transfers are a goodwill option, not a right, and may be offered once per booking.
Transferring your ticket to someone else
If you can't attend and aren't eligible for a refund or a transfer to a future event, you may pass your ticket to a friend or family member. They'll simply need your booking confirmation and QR code on the day. Please let us know in advance so we can update the attendee list.
UK Truffle Festival tickets
UK Truffle Festival tickets are subject to their own terms. They are non-refundable and are not eligible for transfer to a future event.
In exceptional circumstances, Truffle Forager may at its sole discretion offer a refund or, where a refund isn't possible, the option to transfer your ticket to a future Festival. This is reserved for genuinely exceptional situations and is never automatic — most cancellation requests will not qualify, and you should not book on the assumption that a refund or transfer will be granted.
If you can no longer attend, your options are:
- Pass your ticket to someone you know — give your booking confirmation and QR code to a friend or family member.
- Resell via Tixel — once the Festival has sold out through our official ticketing channels, eligible tickets can be listed safely through our integrated resale partner Tixel (tixel.com). Tixel resale only becomes available after the Festival has sold out, and may not be an option in every year. For your own protection, please do not buy or sell Festival tickets through any other channel.
Weather and event changes
Our events are primarily outdoors and go ahead in most weather conditions — please come prepared and dress for the elements. We're unable to offer refunds due to weather. We may occasionally need to make reasonable changes to the programme, schedule, layout, or structure (such as speaker or activity adjustments), and minor changes of this kind won't affect your booking.
Cancellation or rescheduling by us
In the unlikely event that we cancel or reschedule an event, we will offer either a full refund of the ticket price (excluding booking fees) or the option to transfer your ticket to a new date or future event. Please be aware that we're unable to cover travel, accommodation, or other costs attendees may have incurred in connection with the event.
Optional Refund Protection (XCover)
Tickets remain non-refundable and non-transferable under our standard terms above. However:
- At checkout, you may have the option to purchase Refund Protection via XCover, our ticketing platform's independent refund-guarantee partner.
- If purchased, this may make you eligible for a refund in specific covered circumstances (such as illness, bereavement, jury service, transport disruption, adverse weather, or vehicle breakdown). Full details and eligibility criteria are set out in the XCover policy wording shown at point of purchase.
- All claims are handled by XCover directly — not by Truffle Forager. Claims should be submitted as soon as you know you cannot attend, and no later than 15 days after the event date, at xcover.com/claim.
- Refund Protection is currently offered as part of the UK Truffle Festival booking process and may also be available on selected other Truffle Forager events and experiences. Availability may vary by event — please check at checkout.
7. The Truffle Forager's Code
When you book a Truffle Forager event, course, or experience, you're being trusted with knowledge that took years to earn. Truffle sites are rare, fragile, and hard-won. The woodlands and sites we work in are sensitive and hard-won, and the access we're granted depends on discretion and respect.
We ask every attendee, student, and guest to sign up to the following code of honour. It's not a legal contract, it's a promise — to the land, to the people who steward it, and to the foragers and dogs who'll come after you.
Protecting the land and our locations
- Keep all truffle site locations strictly confidential. Do not share locations — verbally, in writing, by photo geotag, by map pin, or by any other means — with anyone outside the event.
- Do not return to any site you've been shown for truffle hunting, training, or foraging — and do not bring or guide any other person, client, or dog to such a site — without the express written permission of Truffle Forager.
- Do not sell, trade, pass on, or otherwise disclose site information to other foragers, trainers, students, or third parties.
- Do not approach, contact, or attempt to negotiate independent access with landowners, estate managers, hosts, or any party connected to the sites we visit without the prior knowledge and written permission of Truffle Forager.
- Avoid posting images, videos, or stories online that may identify or hint at a location — including recognisable trees, terrain, signage, gates, or landmarks.
- Be discreet on the ground. No loud announcements, no public displays of truffle finds, no drawing attention to what we're doing or where we are.
Respecting the land and its wildlife
- Follow all guidance from your host, instructor, or landowner without exception.
- Respect the wildlife and ecosystem of the woods we visit — keep clear of badger setts, ground-nesting birds, deer, livestock, and any sensitive habitat. Give other users of the land (walkers, riders, dog walkers) space and courtesy.
- Leave no trace — take all litter, food waste, and dog waste with you. Refill any holes your dog digs and disturb the woodland floor as little as possible.
- Practise responsible and sustainable foraging at all times — take only what's ripe, leave immature truffles in place, and never strip a site.
Truffles found on the day
- All truffles found during a Truffle Forager event are the property of Truffle Forager, with the sole exception of truffles independently found by your own dog while in your immediate company.
- Truffle Forager retains sole discretion over how truffles found on the day are distributed, gifted, retained, or used. There is no entitlement to take truffles home.
- Truffle hunting is a wild and unpredictable pursuit. We make no guarantee that truffles will be found on any given day, and no refunds are offered on this basis.
Respecting your dog, fellow handlers, and the community
- Bring only well-socialised, well-behaved dogs. Bitches in season are not permitted.
- Keep dogs under close control and on lead unless invited otherwise by your host.
- Never use harsh, punitive, or aversive training methods at any Truffle Forager event.
- Be polite, civil, and welcoming to fellow guests, staff, hosts, and landowners.
- Consume alcohol responsibly where it's available — no excessive or disruptive drinking.
- Use shared spaces, accommodation, and facilities with care.
Our training system and methodology
- The BSH Truffle Dog Training System (Build, Search, Hunt) and all related frameworks, materials, language, and methodology taught at Truffle Forager events are the intellectual property of Truffle Forager Limited.
- You're welcome to use what you learn to train your own dog and enjoy the pursuit. You are not permitted to teach, sell, repackage, or publish the BSH system or its component frameworks as your own — whether in person, in writing, in video, in course form, or via AI-generated derivatives — without written permission.
- We recognise that information flows freely in the age of the internet and AI. This clause is a matter of professional honour as much as legal protection: we ask that you credit Truffle Forager where our work has shaped your own.
Carrying the Code forward
- Apply this code not only at Truffle Forager events but in your wider truffle hunting and foraging life. The reputation of every truffle dog handler in the UK is shaped by how each of us behaves in the woods.
- The location confidentiality and landowner clauses above apply in perpetuity. Cancelling, requesting a refund, leaving the community, or choosing not to attend future events does not release you from them.
By purchasing a ticket, booking a course, or attending any Truffle Forager event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by the Truffle Forager's Code. Breach of this code may result in removal from the event without refund, exclusion from future Truffle Forager events, and where relevant, legal action.
8. Health, Safety & Conduct at Events
- Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over at all times.
- Attendees are responsible for their own safety and wellbeing throughout the event.
- Our events take place primarily outdoors — please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately.
- We ask that you don't bring your own alcohol onto the event site. Food and drink vendors will be available on site.
- Re-entry on the same day is permitted with a valid wristband issued at exit.
- For the safety and enjoyment of everyone, we may need to refuse entry to or ask to leave anyone whose behaviour is unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.
- We're not able to accept liability for personal injury, property loss, or damage unless caused by our negligence. This includes participation in activities such as foraging walks, dog demonstrations, or training exercises.
- We're not responsible for the actions of third-party vendors or partners at our events.
9. Dog Policy
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at most of our events unless otherwise specified at the time of booking. The following rules apply at all dog-friendly events:
- Dogs must be kept on a fixed lead at all times. Extendable leads are not permitted.
- Bitches in season are not permitted.
- Owners must bring water, poop bags, and adequate supervision for their dogs throughout the event.
- Dogs must never be left unattended in vehicles. Organisers may intervene if animal welfare is at risk.
- Dogs must be appropriately socialised for busy public environments.
- You are solely responsible for your dog's health, behaviour, and safety during the event.
- If participating in any activity involving your dog (e.g. truffle hunting demonstrations, training exercises), it is your responsibility to ensure your dog is fit, healthy, and safe to do so.
- We take animal welfare seriously. Anyone found to be mistreating or inappropriately handling their dog will be asked to leave. No refund will be issued in these circumstances.
10. Photography & Filming
Truffle Forager Limited may photograph or film at our events for promotional, editorial, and marketing purposes. By attending any event, you consent to the use of your image and/or likeness in photographs or videos used across our website, social media, and other marketing channels.
If you prefer not to be featured, please inform a member of our team upon arrival and we will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your request.
11. Free Resources
Free resources (such as the Beginner's Playbook) are provided as a courtesy. By downloading one, you'll be joining our mailing list — you can unsubscribe at any time. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.
12. Marketing Communications
When you purchase a ticket or register for an event, you'll receive transactional emails related to your booking — such as your confirmation, event updates, and any relevant post-event follow-up. These are necessary booking communications.
Where permitted under applicable law, we may also contact you about similar Truffle Forager events, products, and offerings. You'll always have the opportunity to opt out — either at the point of purchase or via the unsubscribe link included in every email we send.
13. Links to Third-Party Sites
This site may contain links to external websites (such as YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, Tixel, or partner organisations). We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites. A link does not constitute an endorsement.

- Any third-party content, products, or services linked from this site or present at our events.
- Travel, accommodation, or other costs incurred in connection with attending or being unable to attend any event.

15. Availability of the Website
We aim to keep the website available at all times, though we can't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may occasionally need to update or temporarily suspend parts of the site for maintenance or other operational reasons.
